| Helix Slim (Jerusalem
Artichoke) Questions and Answers
Q. I thought artichoke was for high cholesterol and fat metabolism? Is
that how this works?
Full marks for product knowledge, but this
isn't the artichoke you are familiar with. Jerusalem Artichoke is not a true
artichoke. It actually comes from the sunflower family and works completely
differently.
Q. How does it work then?
The main constituents in Helix Slim are
oligofructans, which have several useful functions. They are sweet to taste
but don't need insulin to deal with them, so don't make your blood sugar
zoom up and down when you take them. Wildly vacillating blood sugar levels
are what trigger cravings, especially sugar cravings, so by controlling them
you have a better chance of eating sensibly instead of falling for sugary
snacks.
Having more stable blood sugar levels tends
to make you feel less hungry, but the fructans in Helix Slim are also a good
source of fibre and can create a feeling of fullness.
Q. That sounds good - anything else?
Yes, the fructans, being fibrous, tend to
improve bowel function and thus promote the elimination of wastes that may
be stagnating in the bowel. The overall effect on the bowel is very positive
because fructans are a prebiotic that feed friendly bacteria. A bowel full
of friendly bacteria is a happy bowel, able to go about its business
efficiently and synthesise nutrients effectively.
Q. So it's helping you lose weight by
improving the bowel function and making you less hungry?
Yes, whilst improving friendly bacteria and
stabilising blood sugar levels to reduce cravings.
Q. Are there are problems with using it?
Not that we know of. If you take more than
the recommended amount or have very sensitive digestion, it may give you
intestinal discomfort due to the bulking effect - reduce the dosage and it
should be fine. Other than that, just don't take it if you are allergic to
the sunflower family.
Q. Have any studies been done on Helix?
Yes. A placebo-controlled clinical trial
resulted in 47% of Helix patients attaining a body mass index (BMI) of under
25 (a BMI of over 25 being classified as 'overweight'), whilst in the
placebo group only 28% reached this target. There were no reported ill
effects.
Q. Can I take it forever if I want to?
Once you reach the desired weight, you
should be able to stop. However, many people find that going onto the
maintenance dose can be advantageous in helping maintain weight.
Q. Can diabetics use it to balance their
blood sugar?
Diabetics should always take
products with the knowledge and consent of their Medical Practitioner. |
